To Be Continued: Leaning In

Lori Zooming (2) (2)

Dear Ones,

Can you believe we’re at the end of September already? Time is flying by.

Our theme for October is “Leaning In.” We’re going to lean into a variety of ideas, beginning with an exploration of repentance/atonement/forgiveness. Our members, friends, and neighbors who are Jewish just celebrated Rosh Hashanah, the New Year, and are moving toward Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

We will also have two movie matinees! “Bruce Almighty” will be screened on Saturday, Oct. 8th at 2:00 p.m., and on Oct. 16th our sermon series on Living Questions will begin with “God: Tell Me About the God You Don’t Believe In.” Then, on Saturday, Oct. 29th at 2:00 p.m. we’ll show “Soul,” from Disney/Pixar as a prelude to our next Living Questions service on the afterlife on Sunday, Nov. 6th.

Along with the Living Questions services and movies, I’m offering Building Your Own Theology (BYOT), an adult curriculum from the UUA. This is the updated edition of BYOT, which originated in the late 1970’s. BYOT offers space for participants to explore what “liberal theology” means, and develop their personal theology. Our first meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 16th at 1:30 p.m., with future dates to be set with participants.

If you’re interested in BYOT, please contact me. I need a minimum of 6 people – maximum of 10 – for this class.

Here are those dates again:
Oct. 8 @ 2:00 pm – Movie “Bruce Almighty”
Oct. 16 @ 10:00 am – Service: God: Tell Me About the God You Don’t Believe In
Oct. 16 @ 1:30 pm – BYOT # 1
Oct. 29 @ 2:00 pm – Movie “Soul”

Enjoy the slightly cooler fall weather!

Blessings,
Rev. Lori
