Dear Friends,
We know that gathering again for in person worship has been a source of great joy to many of us.
And, as you may know, Beaufort County currently has an all-time high level of COVID-19 infection. Yes, higher than previous peaks.
The re-opening task force has carefully reviewed the data:
• As of Tuesday, August 24, 2021, our 7 day average of cases is 97.7 per 100,000 people.
• There were 7 deaths from COVID in Beaufort County on August 23rd. (From the beginning of June through the end of July there was only 1 death from COVID in Beaufort County.)
• Beaufort County Hospitals have 60 hospitalized COVID patients and 12 in ICU. (There are 22 adult ICU beds in the county, 9 are in use by non-COVID patients, so 90% of the ICU beds are full.)
Given all this, we have decided that for the time being, we must return to virtual worship services. Beginning this Sunday, August 29th, we will be gathering via Zoom for worship again.
The Zoom link for worship for the foreseeable future is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84200819988?pwd=ZVBHY3ljamZUU2pzalk2Nm80Z0E1UT09
If you are asked for a passcode, it is “uufb.”
This link will be posted in the Headline News, on our Facebook page, and in the UUFB Beloved Community Forum group, as well as on the website. We intend for it to be the same link going forward, until we return to in person worship services.
Rest assured that your Reopening Task Force will be monitoring the COVID numbers and other data carefully. We aim to re open as soon as vaccination boosters are widely available, or the trend in cases looks like it’s going down as quickly as it went up over the last month.
We want to be together again, safely. Let’s work toward that goal, and keep on moving forward, together. We hope to see you on Zoom!
Blessings to you,
Your Reopening Task Force:
Jeanine Darville
Carole Gunter
Lori Hlaban
Marilynn Koerber
