To Be Continued: Getting Involved!

Dear Ones,

New Year – new intentions, and I hope some of you have an intention to get more involved or try something new here.

You may have noticed a few more people getting involved in our worship services lately! I’m thrilled to have newer faces – and newer voices – before the congregation, lighting the chalice, speaking the welcome, or a reading, or telling a story.

If you’d like to be involved in worship, let me know! Even if you’ve never done it, that just means you’re starting where everyone else does, at the beginning. I’m appealing to you to let me know, because I’m not always aware when someone is silently waiting – and wanting – to be asked. The only caveat is that sometimes I choose a reading kind of last minute. Still, I try to get materials to people ahead of time so they can practice.

I’m especially looking for people who would like to offer the welcome & announcements. If there’s an event coming up that you’d like to make an announcement about – why not offer the welcome? Then you’re in a perfect position to make sure the announcement gets made. There is a script, and I’m happy to supply you with a copy ahead of time so you can change it to sound like *your* welcome. (A former colleague in ministry used to tell me to take something and “Lorify” it, meaning to put it in my voice.)

Let me know, too, if you’re looking for a way to be involved here at UUFB, but can’t quite figure out how. There are many ways to be involved, from one-time jobs to regular tasks. Many hands make light work!

Blessings,
Rev. Lori Hlaban
