To Be Continued: Autumn is Coming

Dear Ones,

Autumn days. Crisp, cool mornings. School buses bearing children to and from classes. Bringing out the sweaters, jeans, and wool socks. Hot apple cider & pumpkin spice. Piling quilts onto beds. Well… Maybe not. So far autumn in the Lowcountry just means the days are getting shorter. Sweaters are for when the air conditioning is too cold.

Autumn is arriving, though, and with it some of our favorite UUFB events.

In about a week and a half we will celebrate 20 years as a congregation! I hope your calendar is marked for the festivities on Oct. 12-13, and you plan to attend either the dinner, or special service, or both!

The dinner is going to be delicious, and the memorabilia display and photo booth will be fun. UUFB Minister Emerita Rev. Nan White will be here, and I look forward to co-leading the service, and hearing her anniversary message for us on Oct. 13th.

Sunday October 20th our worship service will be quite different. Thanks to a UUFB member’s connection with the Fripp Friends of Music, we will be hosting the Brass Roots Trio for a special concert that day! The service will begin in the usual way, then we will turn it over to the musicians to lift our spirits with their beautiful music! You won’t want to miss it!

Then, on October 26th, UUFB is a sponsor of Celebrating Citizenship in Beaufort. This special event welcomes and honors all of Beaufort’s naturalized citizens. All the festivities will take place at Waterfront Park from 2 – 4 pm, including a performance by the Marine Corps Band!

Catch your breath, because the Annual Service Auction is just around the corner – November 16th is the date! This is always a lot of fun, as well as being our major fundraiser of the year. Hope to see you there!

Blessings,
Rev. Lori Hlaban
