Dear Ones,

Can you believe it’s August already? Before you know it, our sun bird members who fly away to the (usually) cooler north will be coming back.

Before you know it, we will be celebrating our Ingathering Water Service on September 8th. You’re invited, as always, to bring a small amount of water from your summer experiences to add to our common bowl. Or, you may choose to symbolically add to the bowl with water we will have available.

Until then, we have a great lineup of services for August! I’m pleased to share the pulpit this coming Sunday with Mr. James Pickard, co-chair of the Beaufort Walk for Water. Mr. Pickard is a member of First Presbyterian, and is eager to share his experiences working with the Water Mission organization. UUFB has been a co-sponsor of this event for the last two years, and will be again this year.

Three years ago, I began journeying with you as your minister, and this time of year brings back memories. Memories of the long drive, with boxes of books and clothing and resources packed in my little car. Memories of anticipation, and nerves, looking forward to serving this great congregation. It’s been a good three years, and now I have some of the same feelings as I look forward to the new program year!
