Volunteer with SECOND HELPINGS
Food Distribution at PENN CENTER
UUFB has partnered with The Penn Club to manage the Second Helpings food distribution every Friday at Penn Center. This effort is one of many that continues our legacy partnership with Penn Center, founded as Penn School in 1862 by Unitarian Laura Towne. During a two hour window, 11:30 -1:30 every Friday, we work with our new friends from The Penn Club to provide “rescued” food to folks in need, brought in from local grocery stores by Second Helpings trucks.
We are using SignUp.com (the leading online signup and reminder tool) to organize our volunteer effort. Although there are only four spaces to be filled via SignUp, extra family or friends are always welcome. David Grim will be there most Fridays, as will the Penn Club President, Ethel Sumpter. David will not “signup” on the system, so as to leave room for all you eager folks. You may contact him by email or by phone or text at 843-271-4712.
Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:
1. Click this link to go to the invitation page on SignUp.com: http://signup.com/go/zjQewkL
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on SignUp.com)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots – SignUp.com will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!
Thank you in advance for your volunteer spirit and for bolstering our outreach to the wider community on St. Helena Island.
